Slight setback within an hour...

No sooner had I set up this blog, when a PCMag review came into my mailbox - with Editor's Choice for ... WordPress.com.

Blast! Now I have to start making "choices", before my toe was really dipped at all in the water!

Certain aspects of the Blogger come out on top - " Google Blogger, on the other hand, opens the CSS floodgates to any and all for no cost." (allowing for elegant free design of the layout for those with the technical interest to do so - my addition). PCMag went on to say ... "If CSS scares you off or you don't know what it is (Wikipedia to the rescue!), then making some changes to your WordPress.com blog may seem impossible. For example, if you find a Theme template that you would adore if only you could change the font from italic to Roman, you're stuck unless you start pecking at the code. "

In conclusion, the author added "Blogger is a very strong tool in its own right, and I actually prefer Blogger's interface for following other blogs, but WordPress is slightly superior in almost every other way. Commit to WordPress and you can't go wrong."

Well, for the moment, I am going to stick with my early efforts with Blogger. When we have decided on the Content Management System [CMS] for the school, we will see which offers the best integration tools and after that make the selection.

Start of the pilot

This blog is about how we find our way through the maze and use Blogger as a means of contributing news stories to our school's website.

These blogs will form the initial "test feed" of stories - some will relate to the technology tests we find along the way, while a few will be "fillers". Dont be surprised if our school soccer team wins the World Cup or our Under 16 athletes scoop 5 gold medals in the 2011 Olympics :-). This IS just as test at the moment.

In the unlikely event of this blog being read, I would love to hear from others with a similar interest, with our without experience of this topic.
